Advertising/Sponsorship Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2026
BROWNSTONE DIGITAL™ — ADVERTISER & SPONSORED CONTENT POLICY
This Advertiser Policy governs advertising and sponsorships offered across the BrownStone Digital™ family of websites, show pages, episode/performance pages, and web & mobile experiences (collectively, the “Network”). For these purposes, “Advertising and Sponsorships” includes display banners, badges/sponsor tags, text links, video commercial spots (including pre-roll/mid-roll where supported), and Sponsored Content.
BrownStone Digital, LLC (“BrownStone Digital,” “we,” “our”) operates the Network. Our operations arm (Advertising Operations / “AdOps”) manages the advertising lifecycle end-to-end, including intake, payment confirmation, creative collection, review/approval, scheduling, activation, reporting, and deactivation through our advertising operations system (the “AdOps System”).
This policy describes:
• how advertising is accepted and displayed;
• standards for creative content and prohibited categories;
• sponsored content labeling and separation from editorial content;
• the review/approval and removal process;
• advertiser responsibilities and compliance expectations.
BrownStone Digital has sole and absolute discretion to interpret and enforce this policy and may update it at any time by posting a revised policy on the Network.
1) DEFINITIONS
• “Advertiser” means the entity purchasing or submitting Advertising or Sponsored Content.
• “Creative(s)” means any advertising material submitted (images, copy, video files, VAST tags, URLs, tracking elements, etc.).
• “Placement(s)” means the specific location(s) where Advertising appears (e.g., leaderboard banner, rectangle banner, sponsor tag, video ad slot).
• “Sponsored Content” means content created by or on behalf of a sponsor and presented as sponsored (e.g., a sponsored page, sponsor feature, or sponsor segment).
• “Insertion Order / Order” means the checkout and/or written order details that define package(s), placements, flight dates, and any special terms.
2) CLEAR SEPARATION: ADVERTISING VS. EDITORIAL
BrownStone Digital maintains a distinct separation between advertising and editorial/decision-making content.
All Advertising on the Network will be clearly and unambiguously identified as advertising (e.g., “Advertisement,” “Sponsored,” “Presented By,” or similar labeling, as appropriate). Sponsored Content will be labeled as “Sponsored” or “Sponsored by [Sponsor Name].”
BrownStone Digital editorial content is not influenced by advertisers unless explicitly labeled as sponsored.
3) NO ENDORSEMENT
Acceptance or display of Advertising or Sponsored Content does not constitute an endorsement by BrownStone Digital of any product, service, company, or viewpoint. Any claims made in Advertising are the sole responsibility of the Advertiser.
4) ACCEPTANCE AND REVIEW (ADOPS WORKFLOW)
4.1 Submission & Access
Advertising orders and asset submissions may be managed through the AdOps System. BrownStone Digital may provide Advertisers with a unique access token or link for uploading assets, reviewing status, and receiving notices.
4.2 Review & Approval
All Creatives are subject to review for compliance with:
• this Advertiser Policy;
• applicable laws and regulations; and
• BrownStone Digital’s technical and brand standards.
BrownStone Digital may request revisions, reject Creatives, or require substitutions before activation. “Approved” status in the AdOps System indicates that the Creative meets policy/technical requirements at the time of approval.
4.3 Placement, Scheduling, and Availability
Placement selection is subject to inventory availability and Order terms. BrownStone Digital reserves the right to:
• determine the appropriate placement location(s);
• adjust placements to preserve user experience, page integrity, and technical performance; and
• manage delivery pacing and start/end timing as needed for operations.
4.4 Activation
Campaigns generally activate after:
• payment is confirmed;
• required Creative assets are received; and
• Creatives are approved.
5) CONTENT STANDARDS
Advertising must be lawful, accurate, and appropriate for a general audience unless a specific Network property is clearly designated for a different audience.
Advertising must NOT contain fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, or offensive material, including material that misrepresents, ridicules, or attacks an individual or group based on age, color, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability/handicap, or any other protected status.
Advertising must NOT:
• include malware, harmful code, or deceptive redirects;
• imitate system messages, emergency alerts, or simulated “breaking news”/public safety notices;
• include content that encourages illegal activity or unsafe behavior;
• include hate, harassment, or violent content;
• include explicit sexual content, pornography, or sexually explicit services;
• include content that violates intellectual property rights.
6) PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED CATEGORIES
BrownStone Digital does not accept Advertising for illegal or objectionable products and services and reserves discretion to reject any category inconsistent with our brand and audience.
Prohibited categories include (non-exhaustive):
• firearms, ammunition, firearm accessories, and weapons;
• explosives/fireworks;
• tobacco/nicotine products (including vaping);
• pornography or explicit adult sexual content/services;
• illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia;
• scams, counterfeit goods, or deceptive “get rich quick” offers.
Restricted categories (may require additional review, proof of compliance, or may be declined):
• alcohol;
• gambling;
• political advertising or advocacy;
• medical/health claims, supplements, or treatments.
7) TECHNICAL AND CREATIVE REQUIREMENTS
7.1 Formats and Specs
Advertisers must supply Creatives in the formats and sizes specified in the purchased package/Placement description. Typical placements may include (example sizes):
• 728×90 leaderboard
• 300×250 rectangle
• 468×60 (or similar) sponsor tag
• video ad slots where supported (e.g., VAST/VAST2 inline delivery)
Exact requirements (dimensions, file size limits, animation/video constraints, click-through URL rules, safe-zone guidance, etc.) will be provided in the AdOps System or Order instructions.
7.2 Third-Party Tags, Pixels, and Tracking
If permitted for a Placement, third-party tags/pixels must be disclosed in advance and approved by AdOps. BrownStone Digital may prohibit or remove:
• unauthorized scripts or dynamic code;
• fingerprinting;
• excessive trackers;
• tags that degrade performance, violate privacy expectations, or conflict with our systems.
7.3 Landing Pages
Click-through destinations must:
• be functional and relevant to the ad;
• comply with applicable laws;
• not contain malware, deceptive downloads, or phishing.
8) SPONSORED CONTENT
8.1 Labeling
Sponsored Content will be identified as sponsored (e.g., “Sponsored,” “Sponsored by [Name]”). The purpose is to ensure viewers can distinguish sponsored material from editorial content.
8.2 Editorial Independence
Sponsored Content is not subject to BrownStone Digital’s editorial standards and is not reviewed by an editorial department for accuracy, objectivity, or balance. However, Sponsored Content remains subject to this Advertiser Policy, including prohibited content rules and legal compliance.
8.3 Sponsor Links
Sponsored Content may contain links to the sponsor’s website. BrownStone Digital may limit or require disclosure for certain links.
9) REMOVAL, REJECTION, AND ENFORCEMENT
BrownStone Digital reserves the right to reject, cancel, suspend, or remove any Advertising or Sponsored Content at any time for any reason, including but not limited to:
• policy violations;
• legal/regulatory concerns;
• technical issues;
• user safety concerns;
• brand suitability;
• inaccurate or unsubstantiated claims.
Where feasible, we will provide prompt notice to the Advertiser (typically via the AdOps System and/or email) describing the reason for rejection, suspension, cancellation, or removal.
10) AD SERVING, DELIVERY, AND REPORTING
10.1 Ad Serving
Advertising may be delivered using BrownStone Digital’s ad serving stack (including an ad server integrated into the Network) and may include server-side and/or client-side delivery methods.
10.2 Measurement
Delivery metrics (impressions, clicks, view counts, and related reporting) are measured by BrownStone Digital systems and logs and are the official record for reporting and billing purposes.
10.3 Delivery Variability
Actual delivery may vary due to factors outside our control (traffic fluctuations, ad blockers, connectivity, device settings, and platform changes). BrownStone Digital does not guarantee a specific number of impressions unless explicitly stated in an Order.
11) PAYMENT, CANCELLATIONS, AND REFUNDS
Payment terms are set by the purchased package/Order and checkout flow.
If a campaign is canceled or removed due to an Advertiser’s policy violation or unlawful content, refunds are not guaranteed and may be denied to the extent permitted by law.
If BrownStone Digital cancels a campaign for reasons unrelated to Advertiser misconduct, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to:
• substitute comparable placements; or
• issue a prorated credit/refund for undelivered portions, consistent with Order terms.
12) INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND PERMISSIONS
Advertisers represent and warrant that they own or have permission to use all submitted Creatives, logos, trademarks, images, video, music, and copy, and that use on the Network will not infringe any third-party rights.
BrownStone Digital may require proof of rights/permissions. Advertisers agree to indemnify and hold BrownStone Digital harmless from claims arising from submitted materials, to the extent permitted by law.
13) PRIVACY AND DATA
BrownStone Digital may process limited data necessary to run the AdOps System (e.g., advertiser contact information, order identifiers, Creative metadata, and reporting). Where required, tracking/measurement will follow applicable privacy laws and BrownStone Digital’s posted privacy practices.
Advertisers may not use BrownStone Digital placements to collect personal data from viewers without required disclosures and lawful basis.
14) ADVERTISER COMMUNICATIONS
To operate the AdOps workflow, BrownStone Digital may send transactional notices related to an Order, including:
• payment confirmation;
• “thank you for advertising” acknowledgments;
• Creative receipt and missing-asset requests;
• approval/decline notices and revision requests;
• activation/start notices and completion/end notices;
• access/token notices for viewing status or uploading assets.
Advertisers are responsible for maintaining accurate contact information and ensuring that BrownStone Digital emails are deliverable (e.g., allow-listing our sending address/domain where needed).
15) ORIGINAL CONTENT FUNDING / UNDERWRITING
From time to time, a third party may provide funding to support the creation of BrownStone Digital original programming (“Underwriting” or “Funded Content”). Any such content must be transparently disclosed to viewers.
Underwriting does not grant editorial control unless expressly agreed in writing and disclosed as sponsored/funded. BrownStone Digital retains the right to decline funding arrangements that conflict with our brand, audience, legal obligations, or content integrity.
16) CONTACT
Questions about advertising, sponsorships, Underwriting, or this policy should be directed to BrownStone Digital AdOps through the contact method provided in your Order confirmation or within the AdOps System.
